BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — A massive fourth inning fueled Bridgeport to a 12-2 victory over East Fairmont on Tuesday, highlighted by a grand slam from Owen Sondericker.
Sondericker drove in four runs on the day, delivering the biggest swing of the game with a grand slam to left field during a 12-run explosion in the fourth inning.
East Fairmont struck first in the second inning when McClain connected on a solo home run to give the Bees an early 1-0 lead.
Bridgeport responded in overwhelming fashion in the fourth, sending 12 runs across the plate. Brooks Vass started the surge with a solo home run, and Jax McNally later drew a bases-loaded walk. Sondericker then broke the game open with his grand slam. The Indians continued to pile on as Vass, Julian, Bowen, and Fazalare each drove in runs during the inning.
McNally earned the win on the mound, allowing just one run on two hits over four innings while striking out four and walking two. Vass added relief work to help close out the game.
Bridgeport's offense totaled 13 hits, with Julian leading the way from the No. 7 spot in the lineup with three hits in three at-bats. Rohrig and Vass also added multiple hits in the win.
Bridgeport will look to carry the momentum into its next game as it travels to Grafton on Thursday.
