The junior varsity football team rolled up 362 yards on the ground, and four different Indians scored in a shortened 34-0 road win at Wimer Field on Monday night. The Indians got off to a quick start, forcing a three-and-out on the game's first possession and then marched 59 yards in just five plays to take the early lead. Carson Bastin accounted for 45 yards on the drive, and Sawyer Culicerto scored on 6-yard wing around.
Bastin, who led the Indians with 122 yards on the night, scored the Indians' next touchdown with 1:16 remaining in the opening quarter and added the two-point conversion run and a 16-0 lead.
The Indians would build the lead to 24-0 following a short drive capped by John Caputo's first career touchdown, a one-yard romp. Culicerto added the two on the ground.Â
The game would be shortened following a scary moment when an Elkins player went down with an upper-body injury and the game would be delayed. The player was transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.
When play resumed, the Indians' Brandon Stamm capped the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run, and Trey Spatafore ran in the two-point play.
Bridgeport moves to 6-0 on the season and will close out the year at East West Stadium on Monday, November 3rd, against Fairmont Senior at 6 pm.
