The Bridgeport High School Varsity Indians powered past Keyser High School 11-1 on Tuesday behind a strong offensive performance and a dominant outing on the mound from Brandon Butcher.
Kasen Baun led the way offensively for Bridgeport, collecting three hits in three at-bats. Baun singled in the first inning, added another single in the fourth, and capped the night with a two-run double during the Indians' big sixth inning.
Bridgeport broke the game open with six runs in the sixth inning. Owen Sondericker drew a bases-loaded walk to force in a run before Baun's double plated two more. Avolio added an RBI groundout, Arnett delivered an RBI single, and another run scored on a fielder's choice.
The Indians first grabbed the lead in the fourth inning when Vass singled to drive in two runs and Aiden Dunn followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1.
Butcher was sharp on the mound, allowing just one hit and one run across six innings while striking out eight batters and walking three.
Bridgeport finished with 11 hits in the victory. Brooks Vass drove in three runs from the seventh spot in the lineup, while Jax McNally added two hits.
Defensively, the Indians played a flawless game without committing an error. Courtney led the defensive effort with nine fielding chances.
The Indians will face the winner of Wednesday's Keyser at Elkins game in the regional final scheduled on Thursday at 6pm.
