FARMINGTON, W.Va. — Bridgeport wasted no time asserting control Tuesday, erupting for eight runs in the first inning on the way to a 17-2 victory over North Marion.
The Indians sent 13 batters to the plate in the opening frame, with Owen Sondericker and Kasen Baun each delivering RBI doubles. Guy Avolio and Aiden Dunn followed with run-scoring singles, while Luke Rohrig drew a bases-loaded walk and Jackson McNally capped the inning with a two-run double to give Bridgeport an early 8-0 advantage.
Bridgeport added another run in the second when Rohrig worked a walk to push the lead to 9-1.
The Indians put the game well out of reach in the third, scoring eight more runs despite just three hits. The rally was fueled by patience at the plate, with multiple walks and hit batters, along with RBI singles from Brooks Vass, Christian Farley, and Brady Elliott.
Dom Fazalare earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits over three innings while striking out five.
Bridgeport totaled 12 hits in the game, with Avolio, McNally, and Cole Arnett each collecting two. McNally drove in a team-high two runs, while Rohrig drew three walks as part of a nine-walk team effort.
Defensively, the Indians were flawless, committing no errors, with Farley leading the way with five chances in the field.
