BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Bridgeport put together a dominant performance on both sides of the ball Tuesday, defeating Philip Barbour 10-0.
Kasen Baun led the offensive charge with a perfect day at the plate, collecting three hits in three at-bats. He singled in the second and fourth innings before adding a double in the fifth.
The Indians broke the game open with an explosive eight-run fifth inning. Owen Sondericker started the rally with an RBI double, while Baun followed with a two-run double. Julian added an RBI single, and Bridgeport continued to capitalize on patience at the plate as Christian Farley, Luke Rohrig, and Talan Thomas each drew bases-loaded walks. Sondericker capped the inning with an RBI single.
Bridgeport first got on the board in the fourth inning when Aidan Dunn delivered a triple to drive in two runs.
Dunn also earned the win on the mound, tossing five shutout innings. The right-hander allowed just two hits while striking out six and walking three.
Bridgeport finished with nine hits in the game, with Sondericker, Dunn, and Baun each driving in two runs. The Indians also showed strong discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks, with Rohrig and Brooks Vass leading the way with two each.
Defensively, Bridgeport turned two double plays in a clean and efficient performance.
Bridgeport returns to action Wednesday with a matchup against Robert C. Byrd on 1033 WKMZ.
