Baseball Rolls Past Wheeling Park, 14-3

WHEELING, W.Va. — Bridgeport turned an early deficit into a runaway victory Thursday, defeating Wheeling Park 14-3 at Wheeling Park High School.

The Patriots struck first in the second inning, taking advantage of a Bridgeport error to grab a 1-0 lead.

The Indians responded immediately in the third. Owen Sondericker delivered a two-run double to put Bridgeport in front, and Kasen Baun added a sacrifice fly later in the inning to extend the lead to 3-1.

From there, Bridgeport's offense continued to pile on, finishing with 13 hits and drawing eight walks in the convincing road win.

Sondericker starred both on the mound and at the plate. He earned the victory after allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits over six innings while striking out seven and walking one. He also drove in two runs offensively.

Guy Avolio added a scoreless inning in relief, allowing just one hit while striking out one.

Anthony Julian, Luke Rohrig, Aidan Dunn, and Baun each recorded two hits for the Indians. Sondericker, Rohrig, and Baun all drove in two runs.

Bridgeport turned a double play defensively and will return home Monday to host Parkersburg South.
