In the opener, Bridgeport edged Riverside (VA) in a tightly contested battle. The Indians broke through in the third inning when Jax McNally delivered a clutch two-run single to put Bridgeport in front. McNally finished with three RBIs despite recording just one official at-bat, while also drawing two walks.
Talan Thomas earned the victory on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings while striking out five. Owen Sondericker closed the door to collect the save, and Vass provided relief. Bridgeport showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks, with Christian Farley, Aiden Dunn, and McNally each reaching twice via the free pass.
Guy Avolio, Kasen Baun, McNally, and Cole Arnett each contributed a hit for the Indians.Â
Bridgeport carried that momentum into the second game, exploding for seven runs in the third inning on the way to a 13-2 victory over Woodgrove. The Indians jumped out early with a three-run first inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Baun and Avolio, along with an RBI ground out from Arnett.
The third inning put the game out of reach. Baun and Avolio each delivered two-run singles, Dunn added another two-run single, and a passed ball capped the seven-run outburst.
Blake Butcher was dominant on the mound, tossing six strong innings while allowing just two runs on three hits and striking out eight. At the plate, Bridgeport pounded out 12 hits. Dunn, Avolio, Baun, and Brooks Vass each had two hits, while Avolio and Baun drove in three runs apiece.
With the two wins, the Indians improved to 20-3 and will face Jefferson in a doubleheader on Saturday.
