FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Bridgeport wasted no time Thursday, scoring in every inning en route to a dominant 17-0 victory over Fairmont Senior.
Cole Courtney led the offensive barrage, driving in four runs. He delivered a three-run single during Bridgeport's huge second inning and later drew a bases-loaded walk in the third.
The Indians struck first in the opening inning when Sondericker doubled home a run and Guy Avolio followed with an RBI single.
Bridgeport then broke the game wide open with an eight-run second inning. Jackson McNally started the rally with a sacrifice fly, while Thomas drove in two runs on a groundout. Avolio added an RBI double before Courtney capped the frame with his three-run single.
The Indians kept rolling in the third, plating seven more runs. Cole Arnett, Blake Butcher, and Mason Bowen all delivered run-scoring hits, while Talan Thomas, Avolio, and Courtney each forced in runs with bases-loaded walks.
McNally was outstanding on the mound, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out five.
Avolio paced Bridgeport with two hits, while Kasen Baun drew three walks as the Indians showed tremendous patience at the plate, earning 12 walks overall.
Bridgeport also played flawless defense, committing no errors in the field.
