Baseball Holds Off Grafton for Road Victory

GRAFTON, W.Va. — Bridgeport built an early lead and withstood a late push from Grafton to secure a 5-3 victory on Thursday.

The Indians jumped out in front in the opening inning when Kasen Baun delivered an RBI single to center field, followed by a sacrifice fly from Brooks Vass to make it 2-0.

Bridgeport maintained control throughout much of the game and carried a five-run advantage into the seventh inning. Grafton mounted a late rally, scoring three runs on a single in the final frame, but the Indians were able to close it out.

Dom Fazalare earned the win on the mound, working 6 1/3 innings while allowing three runs on six hits, with two strikeouts and four walks. Owen Sondericker came on in relief to record the save and preserve the victory.

At the plate, Sondericker and Baun led the way for Bridgeport with two hits apiece. The duo also drove in two runs each, providing key contributions in the win.

Defensively, Bridgeport was solid, committing no errors and turning a double play. Baun led the team with seven defensive chances.

Bridgeport returns home Friday to host Wheeling Park at 11:30am and Washington at 6pm in the McDonalds Classic.
