BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Brooks Vass delivered a standout performance at the plate Monday, driving in four runs to lead Bridgeport to a 10-1 victory over Buckhannon-Upshur.

Vass did damage in multiple ways, drawing a bases-loaded walk in the first inning before adding an RBI single in the third and doubles in both the fourth and sixth innings to cap a three-hit day.

Bridgeport took control early, scoring twice in the bottom of the first. Vass brought in a run with a walk, and Anthony Julian followed with an RBI groundout to give the Indians a 2-0 lead.

The Indians extended their advantage in the third inning. Vass lined an RBI single down the right field line, another run came home on a wild pitch, and Julian added his second RBI groundout of the game to make it 5-0.

On the mound, Guy Avolio earned the win with a strong debut outing, allowing just one run on four hits over five innings while striking out eight and walking none. Talan Thomas added two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three.

Bridgeport finished with nine hits, with Aiden Dunn adding two hits in four at-bats. Kasen Baun contributed by drawing two walks as part of a disciplined offensive approach that saw the Indians collect six walks in total.

Defensively, Bridgeport was flawless, committing no errors, with Christian Farley leading the way with nine defensive chances.

Bridgeport returns to action Tuesday when it hosts East Fairmont.
