The Bridgeport High School track and field teams competed in the Morgantown Invitational on Saturday with the boys finishing ninth out of 21 teams and the girls placing 10th out of 23 teams.
Morgantown won the boys division and University took first place in the girls division.
For the BHS boys, Timmy Jeffress was fifth in the 100 with a time of 11.54. Will George also placed in the 100, posting an eighth-place time of 11.88.
In the long jump, Jeffress had a jump of 20-01.75 to finish sixth.
Jeffress was also part of the sixth-place 4x100 team that posted a time of 45.58. He was joined by Will George, Dante Pierre and
Alex Moses.
Gabe Martin was fifth in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 16.54. He was also part of the fifth-place shuttles team along with
Sawyer Culicerto,
Aiden Gorby and Braeden Matthis. They posted a time of 1:04.20.
Wes Brown was fifth in the shot put at 43-01 and
Jaylen Brown was sixth with a throw of 40-11.50.
Noah Kintz cleared 11-00 to take sixth place in the pole vault.
Pierre was seventh in the 20 with a time of 24.07.
The Indians 4x200 team of Pierre, Moses, George and Antonio Robinson finished eighth with a time of 1:34.76
The BHS girls shuttle team of
Myleigh Smell, Bria Smell,
Carley Lattea and Katie Backus finished third with a time of 1:11.57.
Abigale Stewart cleared 4-10 to finish fourth in the high jump. Also for the BHS girls, Backus was seventh at 4-08.
The girls 4x200 team of Emma Kniceley-See,
Eliza Perine,
Lee Ann Gaskins and Ellie Bongiorno finished fifth with a time of 1:52.23.
Lyza Halterman was fifth in the discus with a throw of 104-09. Becky Pepper-Jackson was seventh in the discus with a throw of 98-00. Halterman added a seventh-place throw of 33-09.75 in the shot put.
Gaskins picked up points for the BHS girls in the long jump, finishing seventh at 15-08.75.
Myleigh Smell was eighth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.30 and was also part of the eighth-place 4x100 team that placed eighth with a time of 53.47. Joining her were
Savannah Courtney, Kniceley-See and Perine.
