Five Bridgeport High School wrestlers punched their ticket to the state wrestling tournament in Huntington during Saturday's Class AAA Region I tournament.

Leading the way was sophomore
Eli Knight (26-2), who finished first in the 190-pound weight class after defeating Wheeling Park's Jameson Maynard by a 4-1 decision.

John Knight (26-3) advances to states after finishing as the regional runner-up at 157. He lost by technical fall in the championship bout to Fairmont Senior's Maximus Fortier.

At 150,
Alex Naternicola (25-7) won by 6-5 decision over John Marshall's Waylon Wyckoff to take third place in the region.

Also for Bridgeport,
Maddox Pudder (12-10) placed fourth in the 144 division after falling via pinfall in the third-place match to Morgantown's Carter Jones.

Rounding things out for the Indians is
Kaleb Ice (24-11) at 138 who finished fourth at 138 after being pinned by University's Timofey Husk in the third-place match.

As a team, BHS finished sixth in the region, which was won by University.
