Jackson, Indians Defense Spark 55-14 Rout of Fairmont Senior

FAIRMONT WVa— Troy Jackson turned Fairmont Senior turnovers into touchdowns Monday night, and the Bridgeport junior varsity football team turned those takeaways into a runaway victory.

Jackson scored four touchdowns — including three in a span of just six minutes — as the Indians rolled past the Polar Bears, 55-14, at East-West Stadium.

Bridgeport wasted little time getting started.

Just 1:24 into the game, Jackson broke loose for a 29-yard touchdown run to put the Indians in front.

After the Bridgeport defense forced a three-and-out, the Indians marched six plays before Trey Spatafore broke free for a 43-yard touchdown run.

Then the defense and Jackson took center stage.

Jackson returned a Fairmont Senior punt 48 yards for a touchdown, and on the Polar Bears' very next possession, he intercepted a pass and raced 76 yards to the end zone.

Fairmont Senior wasn't given a chance to regroup.

On the next Polar Bear possession, Jackson came up with another interception and turned that takeaway into points himself, scoring on a 54-yard run on the very next play.

Just like that, the Indians had turned three consecutive defensive possessions into touchdowns.

Liam Setchell added to the Bridgeport lead with 3:05 remaining in the first half, scoring on a 24-yard touchdown run.

The defensive pressure continued after halftime.

Leelyn Parrish recorded an interception, giving the Indians another takeaway, while Levi Stire followed with a 59-yard run that put Bridgeport at the Fairmont Senior 1-yard line. Stire scored on the next play to extend the lead.

Zach Hickman closed out the scoring for Bridgeport, accounting for 66 yards on a two-play touchdown drive.

Jackson's four touchdowns highlighted the offensive attack, but it was the Indians' ability to create and capitalize on turnovers that ultimately put the game away.

Jackson Nicewarner converted 7-of-8 extra-point attempts.

Bridgeport improves to 2-0 on the season and will continue its junior varsity schedule with another opportunity to build on Monday night's impressive performance next week against Philip Barbour at home.
