Fifty-seven times, Bridgeport had met East Fairmont on the gridiron before Friday night.
 
In meeting 58, the Tribe scored more points against the Bees in the first half than they'd ever scored in a game in the series: 68 of the 75 they scored on the night while holding their Big 10 Conference opponent to 7.
 
"We wanted to clean up as much as we could," Bridgeport coach Tyler Phares said of his team's approach a week after losing to Class AAAA No. 1 Martinsburg. "We were worried about pre-snap stuff, post-snap stuff, coming off the football together. I thought that got a lot better this week."
 
Gavin Williams rushed for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 4 carries and also caught a 55-yard TD pass from Graham Vincent.
 
Gabe Martin added 75 yards and 2 scores for BHS, which didn't use its starters after midway through the second quarter.
 
It took Bridgeport all of 52 seconds to score: Eli Knight ran for 17 yards on first down, then Vincent connected with Williams for a 55-yard touchdown pass.
 
Jaylen Brown's kick was good: 7-0.
 
East Fairmont punted on its first possession and an excellent return by Vincent sent up the Tribe at the EF 25.
 
Martin carried for 8 yards and then the final 17: 14-0, 8:32 left in the first quarter.
 
After another East Fairmont punt came another Bridgeport 2-play drive: Knight for 12, Williams for 37, 21-0 with 6:41 left in the first quarter.
 
Williams weaved through traffic for a 48-yard touchdown pass on Bridgeport's first play after another East Fairmont punt: 27-0, 3:58 left in the first quarter.
 
Aided by flags for pass interference and a personal foul and also thanks to 14-yard and 16-yard passes from Logan Eakle to Jaxson Heskett, East Fairmont drove into Bridgeport territory for the first time.
 
"We've got a pretty good run defense. We essentially force people to throw it. We know that's going to be done to us the entire rest of the year and we've got to continuously get better as the year goes on," Phares said. "Tristin Noble, Brody Prunty, Sean Veltri, Brilyn Ford-Parker, they're tough in there. They're some of our elder guys and have a ton of experience. When they come off the football andput their hands on people they move bodies and make it real tough for the other team."
 
Eakle then scrambled for a 13-yard gain on the final play of the first quarter.
 
Eakle then hit Tyler Hudson for an 11-yard TD pass with 11:40 left in the half: 27-6 after Sean Veltri blocked the extra point.
 
Starting in their own territory for the first time since the game's opening drive, Bridgeport quickly moved across midfield on a 19-yard Martin run.
 
Williams gained 29, then Vincent hit his second TD pass in as many attempts, finding a wide-open Veltri from 17 yards out: 34-6, 10:01 left in the second quarter.
 
A Williams interception set up a 22-yard Martin TD run: 41-6, 9:35 to go in the half.
 
"We were very adventagious with the football, today, so that was exciting," Phares said.
 
Williams' third touchdown of the night came on a Houdini run where he spun away from would-be tacklers for a 24-yard score with 7:39 left in the quarter: 48-6.
 
A fumble recovery was returned for a touchdown by Veltri to boost the scoreline to 54-6 with 6:30 on the clock.
 
Vincent intercepted a pass and Bridgeport's second unit took the field with no drop-off in performance: Trey Spatafore ran for 15 and Troy Jackson for 33 to make it a 61-6 game with 5:09 left in the half.
 
Noah Davisson added to the lead with a 5-yard touchdown run: 68-6 with 17 seconds left in the half.
 
With a running clock in the second half, Bridgeport forced two third-quarter turnovers, the latter an interception that set up a short Levi Stire TD run and a Jackson Nicewarner PAT: 75-6.
