Since its inception in 2020, the Titletown Tailgate is an event where the Bridgeport High School All Sports Booster make sure that all of their ducks are in a row.
That will once again be the case when the annual event takes place at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Wayne Jamison Field, except for one moment when ducks will be all over the place.
Once again this year will be the Duck Drop where rubber ducks will be dropped onto the turf at Wayne Jamison Field and cash prizes awarded to ducks closest to the target. Ducks can be purchased for $10 from any BHS athlete and if there are tickets or ducks still available on Wednesday, they can be purchased at the tailgate.
The first place prize is $1,000 while second and third place will award $500 and $250, respectively.
"Although the duck drop will also serve as the primary fundraiser for the boosters, it won't be the only attraction.
The middle school football team and all of Bridgeport's youth football teams will also be introduced by team.
And as usual, all the high school fall sports teams will be introduced. The band, cheerleaders, and dance team will entertain the crowd with performances, along with games pitting the students against each other.
There will be two bounce houses, a dunk booth, and also new, a vortex machine for unique photos.
Tom Mellott will once again be there with his steak sandwiches, Zul's will be there offering frozen lemonade treats. Kettle corn, and a full concession stand will be available.
The alumni group's BHS merchandise booth will also be open.
Titletown Tailgate will once again coincide with freshman orientation.
