Bridgeport Sweeps Saturday Slate with Wins Over Hurricane, Huntington

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Bridgeport put together a strong all-around showing on Saturday, earning a pair of victories over Hurricane and Huntington behind solid pitching and timely offense.

In the first matchup, Bridgeport edged Hurricane 4-2 behind a complete game performance from Owen Sondericker. After Hurricane took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI groundout by Henderson, the Indians responded in the third when Rohrig launched a two-run home run to left field to put Bridgeport in front for good.

Sondericker made the lead stand, allowing just two hits and two runs—only one earned—over seven innings while striking out nine. Luke Rohrig paced the offense with a 2-for-4 day and two RBIs, while Cooper Straley also added two hits.

Later in the day, Bridgeport carried that momentum into a 7-2 win over Huntington at Kendrick Family Ballpark.

Huntington jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning, taking advantage of a walk and a passed ball. But once again, Bridgeport answered with a decisive inning, erupting for five runs in the fifth to take control of the game.

Anthony Julian delivered the biggest hit of the rally, driving in three runs with a single during a lengthy at-bat. Kasen Baun also contributed offensively as the Indians finished with 10 hits in the contest.

Dom Fazalare started on the mound for Bridgeport, allowing two unearned runs over four innings. Straley was effective in relief, tossing three scoreless innings to secure the win.

Straley also led the offense in the second game with two hits, while Julian and Baun each drove in two runs. Jackson McNally contributed by drawing two walks as part of a patient approach that saw Bridgeport tally six walks.

Across both games, Bridgeport showcased a balanced effort, combining strong pitching performances with timely hitting to secure the sweep.

The Indians return to action Monday when they host Buckhannon-Upshur.
