Sam Goodwin scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 12th inning as the Bridgeport Indians avenged their only Big 10 Conference loss of the season to Philip Barbour 4-3 on Tuesday night. It was a battle of pitchers all game long as both teams combined for just 10 hits. The game was scoreless until the 9th inning when the Colts plated a run and led 1-0.
Jack Gould's ground out RBI extended the game. PB would retake the lead on an error at the top of the 11th, but
Carson Currey singled to center to tie the score again.
Scott Why came on and pitched a three-up-three-down top of the 12th. Goodwin walked and advanced on a wild pitch and ended up scoring the end the game.
Blake Butcher got the start on the mound and gave up just 1 hit with 7 strikeouts in just over 5 innings pitched.
Owen Sondericker pitched the next 5 innings, allowing 4 hits and three runs, but just one earned. Why got the win working the 12th with a strikeout.
Bridgeport will continue its super regional tune-ups with a trip to Wheeling Park on Wednesday.
