Bridgeport High School girls basketball standout
Danika Prescott solidified her plans for after graduation on Wednesday, signing her National Letter of Intent with Salem University.
Â
The signing ceremony took place at BHS in front of a crowd of family, friends, teammates and coaches.
Â
"I looked at a few different schools, I'm very focused on what I want to do after college so I had to look at the criminal justice program," Prescott said. "They have a very good criminal justice program for crime scene investigation. They are close to home. The coach is very nice. I'm extremely excited to get to play for Salem."
Â
Prescott is one of the better shooters in the area and ends her career with 30 3-pointers made. She averaged 4.2 points per game her senior season.
Â
Recognizing that shooting is considered her strength, Prescott has already started training for the next level, focusing on where to improve.
Â
"Going from high school to college is a big jump anyway," she said. "I'm going to work on everything all around."
Â
Prescott has also already had some success in the criminal justice area that she plans on studying at Salem.
Â
"I've always been interested in it since I was in middle school," Prescott said. "Last year, I went to the technical center for criminal justice. I did crime scene investigation. I did Skills USA. I won gold in crime scene investigation and went on to states with my team. It was a very good experience and I know its something I want to do in the future."
