Box Score Jack Spatafore did a little bit of everything for Class AAA No. 1 Bridgeport in Friday night's 54-8 victory against Linsly at West Family Stadium at West Liberty University.
Â
He threw a pair of touchdown passes, he ran for two touchdowns and on defense he had an interception, a forced fumble and three tackles and that was just in the first half as the Indians dominated their opponent for the fourth straight week in a perfect 4-0 stretch to start the season.
Â
Spatafore added a 42-yard touchdown run in the third quarter as he finished with 80 rushing yards on seven carries and three touchdowns, while completing 4-of-5 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns, and of course the plays on defense where the Indians limited Linsly to 169 yards of total offense.
Â
"I'm proud of our kids," BHS coach Tyler Phares said. "I sound like a broken record, but we want to keep getting better every week and the kids are doing that.
Â
It was Jack's night to shine, we called his number a lot and it paid off."
Â
The Indians actually overcame a little bit of adversity before the game even kicked off. Starting tailback/cornerback
Alex Moses was out with an injury as was
Bear Metheney, a starter on both sides of the line.
Noah West, another standout two-way lineman was a game-time decision and he did warm up with the team but did not play in the game.
Â
Three key players out of the lineup, and one could hardly tell as the next-man up mentality came through big time with players like
Malachi Nuse,
Tristin Noble,
Owen Gillespie and
Brody Abraham among others stepping up and the team not missing a beat.
Â
"It's showing the depth of our program" Phares said. "There's a reason we spend just as much time with our JV guys and our freshmen guys. We know at some point they are going to be our next guys. We have a lot of good football players with our twos and threes. We expect them to go in and make plays and they are doing that."
