Bridgeport's William Northey capped his junior cross country season with a 20th place finish at the Class AAA state championship match at Cabell Midland High School in Ona on Saturday.
 
Northey crossed the finish line with a time of 17:00.68 and earned second-team all-state honors for finishing 20th.
 
Two members of the BHS girls cross country team also competed on Saturday. Mikaela DeMoss ran a 25th-place time of 20:17.89, while Ashley McBrayer finished 66th at 23:18.47.
 
Buckhannon-Upshur's Samantha Shreve won the girls AAA race at 18:27.83, Hurricane's Ty Steorts won his third straight boys AAA individual crown as he posted a time of 15:11.48.
 
University won both the boys and girls AAA team titles and Cabell Midland was the runner-up in both.
