Three Bridgeport High School cross country runners will be competing in the state meet following their performances at the Class AAA Region I championship meet on Thursday at University High School.

Two BHS girls,
Mikaela DeMoss and Ash McBrayer, earned at-large spots for the states. DeMoss was 11th overall with a tine of 19:23.51, while McBrayer was 20th at 20:16.12.

Buckhannon-Uphsur's Samantha Sherve won the girls race with a time of 18:04.85. The Top 3 schools in the team standings, University, Morgantown and Preston.

Qualifying standards for the state meet are the top three full teams, the top 10 individuals and the next best five that aren't on one of the qualifying full teams.

For the BHS boys,
William Northey punched his ticket to states with a 10th place time of 16:08.40.
 Bridgeport was just seven points behind Wheeling Park and actually had a strong day with six runners going under 17 minutes but Northey was the only one who qualified for states as Region I once again proved to be the deepest and most compeitive in the state.

The Indians'
Diego Perez was 19th overall at 16:41.50.
Troy Zorick, competing in his first meet this year after battling back from injury, was 22nd at 16:45.20.
Ethan Smell was right behind him in 23rd place with a time of 16:46.20.

Parker Muncy was 26th at 16:50.10,
Quentin Collier was 29th at 16:57.60 and Kieran Moore was 33rd at 17:49.60.
In addition to DeMoss and McBrayer, BHS girls who competed at the regional were
Sara Rexroad, 23rd with a time of 20:53.81;
Abigale Stewart, 39th at 22:45.36,
Angelica Villanueva, 44th at 24:15.53,
Annelise Mace, 45th at 24:19.66 and
Chloe Marsh, 51st at 26:58.40.
