Boy's Swimming Chris Johnson- Connect Bridgeport

Swim Competes In Bridge Invitational

The Bridgeport High School boys swim team picked up its second season victory, winning The Bridge Invitational on Saturday at The Citynet Center at The Bridge Sports Complex.
 
The Indians finished with 131 points to capture the team title. A total of 10 schools competed.
 
The BHS girls also had a strong showing, finishing as the runner-up with 90 points. Herbert Hoover won with 133 points. A total of 17 schools took part in the event on the girls side.
 
The day began for BHS with two wins in the 200 medley relay.
 
The girls team of Kennedy Marsh, Amelia Romano, Emma Ahmed and Kira Gazal too first place with a time of 2:01.69.
 
In the boys race, Jacob Keener, Cole Parsons, Anderson Mitchell and James Hadjis won with a time of of 1:46.56.
 
The BHS boys made it a clean sweep in the relay events as the also won the 200 free relay and the 400 relay.
 
In the 200 relay, Parsons joined forces with Nate Dodson, Oren Sutphin and Owen Guthrie to take first place with a time of 1:34.06.
Sutphin, Keener, Hadjis and Guthrie closed out the day with a time of 3:25.04 to win the 400.
 
Hadjis was the only BHS swimmer to win an individual event on Saturday as won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.92. The Indians went 1-2 in the event as Parsons was the runner-up with a time of 1:06.57.
 
Romano was the runner-up in the girls 200 free as she finished with a 2:04.02. Linsly's Maral Batsanal won with a time of 2:01.90.
 
Parsons picked up a fifth-place finish in the boys 200 free with a time of 2:02.53. 
 
Addyson Tharp swam a fourth-place time of 2:40.28 in the girls 200 IM, a race won by Hoover's Ashton Walker at 2:20.84.
 

Linsly's Batsanal won the girls 100 breaststroke at 1:08.41. Bridgeport's Romano was the runner-up at 1:13.91 and the BHS girls also got points from an eighth-place finish from Wood at 1:24.20.
 
In the girls 400 free relay, Hoover took first place as Reese Holbert, Peyton Greathouse, Willa Skiles and Walker finished with a time of 3:59.96. BHS was the runner-up as Ahmed, Gretchen Lang, Marsh and Romano posted a time of 4:02.55.
