Opening Round Win

Box Score Through a 10-game undefeated regular season, Bridgeport has been nothing short of a juggernaut on offense.

The Indians have had the most prolific offense in the state in terms of points scored, regardless of class, all season long.

Following Friday night's 65-0 victory against No. 14 Robert C. Byrd, in an opening-round Class AAA playoff game at Wayne Jamison Field, the No. 3 Indians improved to 11-0 and now have the most prolific offense in school history.

BHS entered Friday's game with 581 points and within the school record of 615 set just last year by the 2023 team. They surpassed that well before halftime.

Is it the single-wing offense? Is it the players? Is it the guys paving the way in the trenches up front?

The answer to all of the above is yes.

"It's really a combination of things," BHS coach Tyler Phares said. "Our line, those are on unsung heroes and they do a great job of opening up lanes for guys to run with the ball. But we do have a lot of talented guys running with the ball that can make things happen."

The Indians finished with 589 yards on the ground. Alex Moses led the way with 181 yards on five carries and two touchdowns. Josh Love finished with 117 yards on seven carries and three touchdowns.

The defense hasn't been too shabby for the Tribe this year either. Friday's win marked the sixth shutout of the season and the 65-0 score goes down as the widest margin of victory for the Indians in their all-time series with the Eagles. RCB finished with 95 yards of total offense, the majority of which came on two different scrambles by quarterback Junior Smith.

After forcing a RCB punt to start the game, the BHS offense needed just five plays to score all the points they would need. Jack Spatafore had the big play of the drive, a 40-yard run to move the ball to the RCB 5

Love finished it off from there with his first TD run and the Indians never looked back.
