Bridgeport Cross Country coach Nathaniel “Looch” Lutyens is a 2006 graduate of Bridgeport High School. Coach Looch
became the head XC coach in 2021. He began coaching Bridgeport High School track and cross country in 2011, and he coached for many years under coaches Jon Griffith (XC and boys track) and Emilee Yurish (girls track). He continues as an assistant track coach under coaches Grant and Ali Burton. As an assistant coach, Looch was blessed to be a small part of a great run of success in cross country and track.
Since taking over as head coach, Looch has had the opportunity to coach many talented, hardworking runners, including two AAA all-state runners (Bailey DeMoss, 2021, and Troy Zorick, 2023). Sam Dodson also became the first BHS boy to go under 16:00 in a 5K (15:57) in 2023.
Coach Looch is married to Gina, a 2007 graduate from Bridgeport High School, who works at Johnson Elementary School. They have two kids.
Looch graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from West Virginia University in 2010 and with a master's degree in theological studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2023. He works for Ridge View Church in Bridgeport.
