The Bridgeport Indians opened the defense of their 2025 state championship in dominant fashion Wednesday night, cruising to a 10-0 road victory over Philip Barbour.

Leading the way for the Tribe was Grayson Church, who made a triumphant return from a season-ending injury. Church found the back of the net four times on just five shots to spark the Bridgeport attack.

The victory was the first for new head coach Nate Jones, who takes over the Indians program following Keith Dumas' move to become the head coach of the Bridgeport girls soccer team.

Returning All-State standout Riel Figueroa also made his presence felt, scoring one goal while adding two assists in the season-opening victory.

Brayden Northey, Henley Hinkle and Blake Wilson also found the back of the net as Bridgeport's offense produced 10 goals while the defense recorded a shutout.

After capturing the school's first boys soccer state championship in 2025, the Indians wasted little time showing they intend to make another run at the title in 2026. Bridgeport's 10-0 victory provides a strong opening statement as the Tribe begins its championship defense.
