Bridgeport (0-1) couldn't hold a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning, falling to Spring Valley 2-1 (4-1) in the season opener on Thursday morning at Jack Cook Field in Huntington.
Jack Gould singled a runner in the second inning for the Tribe's only run of the game. Jacob Stravrakis pitched five strong innings, giving up just one hit, striking out six with no walks.
Carson Currey took the loss after pitching two-thirds of an inning, giving up two runs on two hits and walking in the winning run.
Michael Romano went two for four at the plate.
The Indians will travel to Cabell Midland on Friday at 4:30pm.
