Bridgeport High School's golf team finished in fifth place in what proved to be a very long second day of action in the Class AAA golf championship held at the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling on The Jones Course at Speidel Golf Club.

Â
Spring Valley won the title with a two-day total of 481. John Marshall was second at 488, and Princeton was third at 492. Hampshire, who the Indians toppled in the regional competition, was fourth at 504.Â
Â
Three more teams rounded out the eight-team field. Chapmanville and Winfield finished tied for sixth at 518, while Fairmont Senior was eighth with a 547.Â
Â
The duo of
Audrey Kerr and
Alex Randolph led the way in the second day of action. Kerr led the team on day two with a 79, while Randolph finished with an 81. Randolph's two-day total was 159, while Kerr's total was 163.
Â
Patrick Aucremanne and
Guy Avolio completed the BHS foursome. Aucremanne's two-day total was 191 and Avolio had a two-day score of 204.
Â
The top three scores for each team counted toward the final score.
Â
The final round took more than seven hours to complete. It was the first year the WVSSAC had four classifications compete in the competition.
Â
BHS was unable to make up ground from day one of the event. The Indians were in fifth place after Tuesday's opening round of play in Wheeling.
