The Bridgeport High School track and field teams are set to return to action at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Morgantown Invitational.

The Indians are coming off a strong showing at the Parkersburg South Invitational where 16 schools were involved.

The BHS boys finished third overall, while the girls were eighth overall and had the high-point performer in junior standout
Giana Cox.

Cox won the 400 with a time of 1:01.43, was the runner-up in the 200 with a time of 26.23, placed third in the 100 with a time of 12.60 and was part of the sixth-place 4x400 team along with Lee Ann Gaskins, Ava Hollen and Bria Smell that finished with a time of 4:37.18.

The BHS girls had two other runner-up finishes with
Lyza Halterman placing second in the discus with a throw of 105-02 and the 4x100 team of Gaskins,
Savannah Courtney,
Eliza Perine and
Carley Lattea posting a time of 53.45.

The shuttles team of
Lyla Kelley, Smell,
Hazel Jackson and Lattea came in sixth with a time of 1:15.65.

Courtney, Perine, Lattea and Hollen teamed up for a seventh-place finish in the 4x200 at 1:57.27.
Â
Jackson came in eighth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.65.

Also placing eighth was the 4x800 team of
Alea Matthis,
Mikaela DeMoss,
Sara Rexroad and
Ashley McBrayer with a time of 11:19.43.
